Why a Dedicated Puberty & Life Skills Group Matters:

Navigating puberty is a massive milestone for any young person, but neurodivergent girls often face unique social, sensory, and communication hurdles during this transition. Standard school health curricula don’t always provide the concrete, adaptive explanations these girls need.

Through the therapeutic lens of Occupational Therapy, the Well Girls program unpacks the science of changing bodies, hygiene routines, and emotional regulation in a concrete, predictable way. By exploring these topics alongside peers who share similar lived experiences, girls build deep social resilience, reduce anxiety surrounding bodily changes, and foster long-term self-esteem.

What Participants Will Build & Learn:

  • Understanding Their Bodies: Learning about anatomy, menstruation, and physiological growth milestones using compassionate, clear, and age-appropriate clinical guidance.
  • Essential Life Skills: Practical training for everyday personal care, sensory self-management strategies, and navigating new hygiene routines with total independence.
  • Confidence & Self-Advocacy: Developing a positive self-image, identifying personal boundaries, and learning how to confidently articulate physical and emotional needs.
  • Safe Social Connections: Practising conversational sharing and peer bonding in a completely safe, inclusive, and relaxed clinical setting.
  • Comprehensive Parent Support: Includes a dedicated parent session to equip families with the exact tools, language, and strategies needed to continue supporting their daughters confidently at home.

NDIS Funding Eligibility
As this group is completely designed and facilitated by a registered Occupational Therapist, your investment of $1,390 can be fully claimed through NDIS funding under appropriate Capacity Building support line items.

Program Glossary within our program:

Program  Description
Alert Program  The Alert Program is a cognitive-based intervention used to build awareness of arousal levels and regulate using sensorimotor strategies. Language from the Alert Program can be incorporated into how emotions are expressed verbally. ©
Bibliotherapy  Children participate in a shared story experience focused on emotions and self-regulation. The aim is to support emotional literacy by helping children identify and label feelings in themselves and others. Skills targeted include listening, comprehension, perspective-taking, and early emotional reasoning. By discussing characters’ emotions and linking them to the Alert Program, children begin to understand how feelings influence behaviour.

Supporting the Wellbeing of Melbourne Communities

We believe that effective therapy starts with a deep understanding of the environment where our participants live, learn, and grow. Posity is woven into the unique fabric of Melbourne’s diverse landscape, from the heritage-listed canopy of the East to the fast-growing corridors of the North. Our presence in these regions is rooted in a long-term commitment to providing accessible, high-quality NDIS support that respects local history and community values.

Bridging Northern and Eastern Melbourne Melbourne is a city of distinct characters, and we pride ourselves on understanding the specific needs of every pocket we serve. By strategically positioning our clinics, we ensure that world-class Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and specialised NDIS housing solutions remain within reach for all Victorian families.

  • In the North: We support the vibrant, resilient families of the Whittlesea and Darebin corridors. We are proud to contribute to the health landscape of an area defined by its history of industrial growth and its current transformation into a premier educational and medical precinct.

  • In the East: We lean into a legacy of community and natural well-being. Serving the established residential heartlands of Whitehorse, Manningham, and Boroondara, we provide care that mirrors the peaceful, family-oriented nature of these leafy suburbs.

Our goal is simple: to help every Melburnian we work with achieve meaningful goals and build a life of lasting independence.
